It looks like I may have missed some member’s requests for access to the Members area. This is due to my Junk Filter.                        If there is no Subject Matter all mail is deleted from the server before I see them. So if anyone wants access to members area please  put subject heading stars member area. For any other mail please subject it as stars web. Thank you

A few Members have been finding it difficult to get into the Members Area. I also had trouble at one stage.

To over come this you need to change the Security level when on the internet.  To do this open your browser and click

on tools then click on internet options. Here you will find a tag labelled security, this needs to be changed to medium.

This has worked for me and others.

29 Oct                    The Y charts have been updated

28 Oct                    I have had one member yesterday complain that there is no foreign news. This is due to NO MEMBERS submitting anything in over 2 months to be put on the web site. The reason for stock formations appearing is to try and give something for those members that are only interested in UK trains or are interested in both. As I have said in the past if there is anything u want on the site please let us know also if there is anything of interest to you that others may be interested in as well please also let us know.

29 Sep                   The Y Charts have been updated

10 Sep. 08              A brief Description can be found HERE for 2009 tours from STARS.

2 Sep                     Gary Jones has found a new German book. This softback book is published yearly by a German Author and includes DB Locos and Units (including Berlin S-Bahn). It has technical information, full fleet lists; details withdrawals during the previous year; works date visits, renumberings etc etc. It is updated to 1st Jan each year. Due to the costs of importing this book and the fact that we cannot purchase on sale or return, we are asking for expressions of interest first. Likely cost per one if we are able to order ten is around £22 This book is published in May each yaer. A few pages of this book can be found here by clicking the different numbers. 1  2  3  4

18 Aug                  We at STARS are looking at ways of improving our tours for you. To do this we have done a questionnaire for you to fill in.

Please send this back when you receive it or fax or E-Mail it back to stars.web@toucansurf.com thank you for your support.

15 July                  I was thinking of putting on this site for all to see, formations of stock seen such as HST sets and Mk4 stock. Would anyone like this and would anyone be able to forward sittings to me to keep it up to date. Please let me know what you think stars.web@toucansurf.com . Thank you

14 July                   NO U.S.A. TOUR THIS YEAR!!

We regret to announce that we have cancelled our planned USA Tour this year, due to insufficient bookings. The main problem is that there is a similar event clashing with our dates, and many members who might have been with us have opted for the alternative. We apologise to those who booked on the STARS Tour, but we cannot run with such a low loading. It is also disappointing for us considering the hard work that went into the planning. It must be particularly galling for John Foster when he totals up the hours he spent on it. However, the real tragedy must be that the positive responses from all Railroads and short lines will be to no avail. This would have been our first ever USA Tour where everyone had said ‘Yes’ to our visits, including NS and CSX!! However, these things happen.

On a positive note we intend to take a fresh look at the tour with a view to running next year. It would be a pity to waste such golden opportunities to visit locations which have previously been considered out of reach now that they have materialised.

New sales items can be found here

05 Jan          Neil Caplan has come up with an alternative way to reach the Lithuanian Tour meeting point.  There is a train service  from Warsaw via Kaunas to Vilnius that would give some nice diesel haulage and may increase the options available for the previous weekend. It would involve leaving Warsaw at around 07:30 on Monday morning and arriving in Vilnius around half five in the evening - a break can still be taken in Kaunas to view the Depot as there are plenty of  trains. It is also believed that  more flight options are available to Warsaw than Kaunius.

Please remember that you should be at the Hotel in Vilnius no later than Monday night the 14th April 2008. You are free to take whatever route you wish to ensure correct arrival time, but STARS cannot be held responsible if your arrival is after the tour commences. Please check your travel arrangements carefully to ensure compliance.
